South Sound 911 provides “background checks” only by way of inspection of local criminal history record(s) and/or Visa Clearance Statements. Employers or individuals wishing to obtain a Washington state criminal history report (i.e., a background check) should contact the Washington State Patrol or visit their Washington Access to Criminal History (WATCH) website. Publicly available records include convictions and pending charges less than one year old.
Inspection of Criminal History Record
Per RCW 10.97.080, individuals may request to review local criminal history records by name or by fingerprint1 by visiting our office and completing a Request for Inspection of Records form. A state-issued identification is needed for this service.
For a fingerprint-based search, when identity is confirmed, South Sound 911 will mail you a postcard with a name and phone number to call to make an appointment to have your record reviewed. A copy of the record(s) will be provided. Please call to make this appointment, as the person you will need to speak to may not be available on a walk-in basis.
- Inspection of Records by Name2 – $20
- Inspection of Records by Fingerprint – $41

2 South Sound 911 cannot guarantee the records obtained through this process are related to the person on whom you are seeking information.
