Comcast 911 outage: Please do not “test” your 911 service

February 10, 2017

Comcast reports a 911 outage affecting customers of their voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone service. Customers in western Washington may be impacted. We recommend those affected needing to report an emergency try calling 911 with a cellular phone.

Our communications centers report receiving some Comcast VoIP calls. Calls may be answered by another center and then transferred. Please do not “test” this service at any time; 911 is for emergencies only!

Additionally, we have the following non-emergency 10-digit numbers available:

  • In the city limits of Bonney Lake, Buckley, Fife, Milton, Orting, Puyallup or Sumner: 844-821-8911 (toll-free)
  • All other areas of Pierce County: 253-798-4721 or 800-562-9800
