Ken Sharp has served as the deputy director of Fire Services for South Sound 911 since December 2014.
Prior to working for South Sound 911, he served for 35 years in the fire service, beginning his career as a firefighter for the Lakewood Fire Department in September 1977. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Fire Chief of West Pierce Fire & Rescue in April 2007, prior to retiring on March 16, 2013.
Ken graduated from Lakes High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University and an executive master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington.
Ken is active in the community, serving on the Pierce County Disability Board, the Tacoma Youth Chorus Board of Directors, and the St. Frances Cabrini Endowment Committee. He is also an active member and past president of the Clover Park Rotary Club.
Ken is married, with two daughters, a son, and two granddaughters.
